Cost of Professional Raccoon Removal
By ProMatcher Staff
How Much Does it Cost to Get Rid of Raccoons?
The cost of raccoon removal will depend on several different factors, including where you live and how many raccoons have made their way into your home.
1. Your location. Raccoon removal services tend to cost more in urban areas than they do in more rural, small towns. However, if you live in a remote area, you’ll likely pay extra for a contractor to travel outside of their normal service area.
2. Are the raccoons inside or outside? It’s typically cheaper to remove raccoons that are located outside of your home. If the raccoons have made their way into your home, it can be difficult to locate them and take the necessary steps for removal.
3. Begins with an inspection. The contractor should begin with a full inspection of your property. The first step is typically finding the place where the raccoons are entering the home. They may also use thermal imaging technology to locate where the animals are residing. After the inspection, the rat removal specialist will be able to recommend a plan of action.
4. Number of raccoons. How many raccoons are present? Some trapping services charge a set fee per animal removed. Other wildlife removal services may charge a fixed fee for the entire job. As a general rules, it will almost always be cheaper to remove a single raccoon than an entire family.
5. Eliminating entry points. Raccoons can make their way into your home through very tiny holes. A few inches is just enough room for a mom and her babies to sneak in. All of these holes, or “entry points” need to be sealed in order to prevent the raccoons from re-entering your property. You may also want to invest in “raccoon-proof” trash cans to prevent future raccoon issues.
6. Removal and relocation. The rules and regulations regarding raccoon removal vary across the country. Whenever, the raccoons are safely trapped and then relocated to another location. In rare cases, the raccoons may be exterminated, if local regulations allow.
7. Emergency calls. The price of raccoon removal services will be higher outside of normal business hours. Emergency services are almost always more expensive.
8. Repairing the damage. If the raccoons have been living in your home for some time, it’s likely that there will be some damage. Your whole attic may be in need of a makeover. This repair work is typically handled by a separate contractor. Also, don’t spend money to have the area restored until you’re sure that the raccoons are gone for good.

Don’t settle! Do your research. Before hiring a professional, it’s important to get several estimates for the job. This will help to ensure you’re getting a fair price. Take some time to carefully review the quotes before making your decision. Do a little research on each of the professionals. Online reviews can be very helpful. Also, keep in mind that the lowest bid is not always the best option.
